The verdict is in: We love our pets! Thus, the Magical Creatures & the Staff Who Keep Them exhibit was born. Fifty-six staff and student employees of Swem Library, Center for Geospatial Analysis, Writing Resources Center, Omohundro Institute of Early American History & Culture, Hackworth Print Shop and John D. Rockefeller Jr. Library at Colonial Williamsburg submitted 130 pet images, 93 of which are exhibited in Magical Creatures. Since we had multiple submissions from staff and student employees it was obvious they had a hard time choosing their favorite representations of their pets!
Some of our beloved pets represented here have passed on; others are currently ruling our hearts and households. Some of the creatures are virtual pets. We hope you enjoy our companions as much as we do. And, finally, a few words from some of our pets who wanted to thank us for featuring them: “woof woof,” “meow meow,” “gurgle gurgle” and “roar.”
See videos of selected pets at W&M Libraries on YouTube.

Through September 17, we will be collecting wish list donations in the Botetourt Gallery for the Heritage Humane Society.
