Small-Batch Print, Large-Scale Impact

Environmental Zines

Location
Swem Lobby Exhibit Case
Duration
-

With global climate change and biodiversity loss occurring at an unprecedented rate, environmental activism in all forms has become essential for conserving and protecting Earth’s natural resources. Zines, short for magazines or fanzines, act as an affordable and easily accessible means for independent authors and publishers to educate and raise awareness about various environmental issues spanning from habitat loss to national agricultural policy. Concise in their message and innovative by nature, these small-batch publications play a vital role in determining the future of our globe’s climate and ecosystems that hang in the balance.

The present exhibit inspired by William & Mary’s Year of the Environment offers a selection of Swem Library’s zine collection to highlight independent publishers and their innovative approaches to protecting the environment.
