- Renewals are not automatic: you must check with the Media Center to extend reservations and renew equipment.
- Reservations that are not picked up on time will be made available to other patrons (if possible we’ll hold until end of day).
- Requests for more than two items of the same kind require approval from a media operations supervisor. (For example, 2 DSLRs, 2 microphones, etc). No more than 6 total items may be checked out to one person at the same time.

- The preferred method of booking equipment is via our online booking system at: http://libcal.swem.wm.edu
- Equipment is available to currently enrolled W&M students, staff and faculty. Priority is for patrons using the equipment for course purposes.
- We don’t provide disposable accessories such as batteries — you must provide these yourself (However, most, not all equipment will come with rechargeable batteries. If in doubt, ask).
- Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis. Upon request, equipment can be renewed one time if others are not waiting for the equipment.
- Equipment must be directly returned to the Reeder Media service desk.
- You are responsible for the equipment at all times while it is checked out to you. Fines and fees apply for late, damaged, lost, or stolen equipment (see details below)
- The library reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who abuses equipment or is repeatedly or extremely late in returning equipment.
- Equipment must be picked up by the patron who made the booking.
- While Media Center employees are responsible for inspection of equipment during check-out and check-in, it is the also the expectation and responsibility of the individual borrowing the equipment to check equipment for damage and/or missing pieces BEFORE leaving AND to report missing and damaged equipment upon return. “Inspection” should include:

- Presence of equipment and accessories as indicated.
- BORROWER RESPONSIBILITIES

- OVERDUE / LOST / DAMAGED
- Overdue equipment is subjected to a fine of $5/hour with a max of $25 per day. If borrowed equipment is not returned 10TH day after the due date, we will initiate a process of item replacement (including related accessories). ON the 15th day after due date, total replacement costs will be sent to the Bursar's Office and your library account will be blocked until you pay the replacement costs at the Bursar's Office.
- Patrons with ANY unresolved overdue items will not be able to check out equipment until the overdue item is returned.
- Patron is responsible for replacement costs of any lost items.
- Patron is responsible for cost of repairs and replacement of any items returned damaged.
- Borrowers will be billed for damages to equipment, unless such damages are deemed normal “wear and tear” by RMC staff. If damaged equipment cannot be repaired, the user will be billed the cost of replacement.
