Carrie Cooper was appointed Dean of University Libraries at William & Mary in August 2011. She has overseen the construction of the Reeder Media Center, the Swem Library patio, and has prioritized facility upgrades to ensure the library is an intellectual space for the University and surrounding community. Her attention to access and research impact has strengthened the infrastructure for digital collections and research support. She raised $22 million during the For the Bold Campaign which enables excellence in programming, staffing, and collections.
Carrie has been working in public education for 30 years. Prior to coming to W&M, she was Dean of Libraries at Eastern Kentucky University. She was also a proud teacher and librarian in Florida public schools. Carrie received a B.S. in elementary education from Florida State University, an M.L.I.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi, and an Ed.D. from William & Mary.
She advises the CKI Club and Mortar Board at William & Mary. In the community, she is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg and supports Literacy for Life.
