Tami Back

Tami comes to W&M Libraries with a background in public relations and journalism. She served as communications coordinator for the City of Hampton, VA where she managed the city’s media relations and crisis communications. As part of the city’s marketing team, she served as lead content manager for all city communications including publications, web and social media. Prior to her work with local government, she was a reporter for the Daily Press, covering education and community life. Tami has a bachelor’s degree in English from Christopher Newport University, a master’s degree in English from Old Dominion University, and a master's degree in library science from the University of Kentucky. Joining W&M Libraries allowed Tami to combine two of her passions: writing and libraries. As director of communications and strategic planning, she manages media relations, communications and events for the university’s libraries. She enjoys capturing the library’s stories and sharing them with the public. Tami recently moved to Williamsburg with her husband David and their two children. She enjoys reading, writing, playing with her children, spending time with family and visiting with friends.
