Per campus policy, solicitation, sale of goods and/or distribution of items or materials on campus is prohibited, except by written approval. Approval for solicitation, distribution or sale of goods by students, student groups and non-students must be obtained through the Office of Student Leadership Development. Non-students who violate this policy are subject to legal prosecution. The penalty for violating this policy shall not be less than warning nor greater than suspension.
William & Mary Libraries, including Swem Library, are non-solicitation areas; students are not permitted to fundraise, sell goods or distribute materials within the libraries without express permission from library administration. The Libraries External Relations Office reviews all facility requests.
Swem Library student activities request policy includes the following:
- No student fundraising activities will be permitted to take place in Swem Library, including the Mews Cafe, unless activities directly support the Libraries' development efforts.
- No student tabling activities will be permitted inside Swem Library. Students can table outside of Swem Library. See full tabling policy.
