We actively support the College's efforts to create a new model for sustainability on campus.
Swem's sustainability initiatives include:
- eliminating cover sheets from print jobs on 1st and 2nd floor printers, saving about 8 tons of paper/year
- conducting energy audits in all departments, identifying ways to reduce energy use and waste
- installing motion-sensing light fixtures
- serving on the campus Committee on Sustainability
- providing recycling points for batteries, cell phones, & toner cartridges, and plastic bags
- circulating reusable cloth book bags, kill-a-watt monitors, KillDisks, and event recycling bins
- hosting an annual Earth Day reading and discussion group to examine environment-related issues
The sustainability guide is a starting point for research resources, local sustainability groups, and suggestions for greener living.
We welcome your comments and suggestions and encourage everyone to reduce, recyle, and reuse.
