Since 2005, W&M Libraries has hosted the annual 24 Speed Contest. Students and alumni are invited to write, shoot, and edit a short film within a 24 hour time frame.

24 Speed - 2026

This year's contest will kickoff on FRIDAY, February 27 at 5:00 PM, so mark your calendars.

The contest will officially begin at 7PM Friday and last until 7PM Saturday. Student teams are expected to show up in person at the Ford Classroom at the Reeder Media Center (located on the ground floor of Swem Library), whereas alumni teams can tune in live via Zoom (a link will be provided). At the kickoff ceremony, each team will be given a prop, line of dialogue, and individual genre that must be used in their film.
