Tobacco Exhibit at Swem

Published on

During the quieter months ahead, plan to stop by the third floor rotunda gallery in Swem and enjoy an exhibit curated by Professor Susan Kern’s NIAHD Field School in Material Culture class (HIST 491-03/591-03)using items from the Special Collections Research Center. “A Large and Curious History: Tobacco at the College of William & Mary” shows the history and changing fashions of tobacco in America in exhibit cases that explore the tobacco economy, the relationship between tobacco and sports at W&M, and how advertising contributed to the image of the gentleman smoker.
