On Wednesday, March 21, 2012, author Charles Bracelen Flood will visit Swem Library for a conversation and book signing at 2pm. Flood will be discussing his latest book, Grant’s Final Victory: Ulysses S. Grant’s Heroic Last Year. The William & Mary Bookstore will be on hand to sell this book as well as two others by Flood.
Flood graduated from Harvard, where he began writing, and was on the literary board of the Harvard Lampoon. He has written twelve other books, including three about the Civil War: Lee: The Last Years, Grant and Sherman: The Friendship That Won the Civil War, and 1864: Lincoln at the Gates of History.
The event is being held as part of the “From Fights to Rights: The Long Road to a More Perfect Union” project organized by Swem’s Special Collections Research Center. The project is an ongoing commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement.
