Have you wondered about those new machines in the microforms area on our ground floor?
They are our newest microform scanners, recently purchased to replace some of the older equipment.
These new machines do what all microform readers traditionally do: enlarge microfilm and microfiche copies of old newspapers, journals, and documents so you can read and print the text or image.
But they also do much more! These machines scan microforms of all types -- 16mm and 35mm microfilm, microfiche, aperture cards, and opaque cards. You can scan images and save them to your flash drive or campus network drive to use later to print, paste into a presentation, or just to review.
The microform scanners are straightforward to use, and basic instructions are posted. If you need additional help, please stop at the reference desk where the librarians will contact the microform scanner experts -- Marcia Kirby and Cynthia Dellaposta -- to assist you.
