In this age of Google, how can W&M's students learn how to find the best sources for their many research papers and projects?
There are several ways, but one of the most effective is with library research sessions, scheduled by faculty for their classes.
Librarians and faculty work closely together to customize the library research sessions for each class. That ensures that the most essential concepts and databases are covered and that students have opportunities to learn through active learning exercises and hands-on practice.
Library research sessions also work best if they are scheduled at the time when students have chosen their research topics. That way, students can use a session's hands-on practice time to begin finding sources useful for their topics.
Interested in scheduling library research sessions for your classes? Please contact your department's library liaison or fill out this Faculty Library Instruction Request form.
And, for individual students, if you'd like to hone your library research skills, please visit the Reference Desk or schedule a research appointment.
