The challenge: produce a film in 24 hours. The results: amazing!
Earlier this month the William & Mary Global Film Festival, in partnership with Swem Library's Media Center, hosted the 24 Speed Filmmaking Competition. Teams of W&M students and alumni had 24 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film. Adding to the challenge were some specific rules: each team had to include a prop (candy hearts), a line of dialogue (“Nobody’s that good, not even me.”) and a genre. This year's festival theme was "Young Love."
The films were judged by a panel consisting of Helene Bergsholm, star of Turn me on Dammit! (2012);Jared Gilman, star of Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom (2012); Carrie Cooper, dean of University Libraries; Lisa Grimes, associate director of the Charles Center; and Aaron De Groft, director and CEO of the Muscarelle Museum of Art.
