On Wednesday, November 12, Swem is hosting a presentation by James (Jim) Heller, Professor of Law and Director of the Wolf Law Library, and Paul Hellyer, Reference Librarian at the Wolf Law Library, on copyright and predatory publishers. This event is recommended for all faculty and graduate students. Please note that this presentation is not intended to cover classroom use of copyrighted materials, but there will be a future session on this topic.
The presentation will cover the following topics: what types of work are subject to copyright, who owns the copyright in a work, copyright owners' rights, safeguarding your rights, promoting open access, and how to avoid predatory publishers. A question-and-answer session will follow; questions may be submitted in advance with RSVPs.
