Discounts on Article Publication Charges (APCs) for Open Access Journals

W&M Libraries and VIVA (a statewide collaboration) have negotiated several agreements for article publication charges (APCs) with a variety of publishers listed below. We also provide a library-sponsored OA publishing support fund for researchers who want to publish their work OA but did not receive external funding.

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Varies To receive these savings, authors should submit their institution's AAAS number upon acceptance of their manuscript.
American Chemical Society (ACS) $250 off of APC, not including ACS Omega APCs; OA costs covered for primarily undergraduate institutions When authors submit their works through the ACS authorship system, they are prompted to respond whether they are affiliated with an "All Pubs" ACS institution.  Their responses are then vetted against the active ACS list.
Association for Computing Machinery 100% Authors are identified through their email domain, so they should use their institutional email addresses when submitting manuscripts.
Cambridge University Press 100% Authors are identified through a variety of data points, including email domain, ROR ID, and Grid ID.
Institute of Physics 100% Authors are identified through affiliation as entered through the manuscript submission process.
International Water Association 100% Authors are identified through a variety of data points, including email domain, ROR ID, and Grid ID.
PLOS (Public Library of Science) 100%

Rockefeller University Press 100% Authors are identified through institution's ROR ID during the publication process.
Royal Society 100% Eligible authors will be automatically identified through their institutional email domains and other mechanisms.
Springer Nature 100% Authors are identified through a variety of data points, including institutional affiliation, email domain, and IP address.
Wiley 100% covered for fully Gold Open Access Journals; 100% covered for hybrid while funds are available Any researcher at a participating VIVA institution may use these funds, regardless of rank.
