  • During Love Data Week, William & Mary Libraries will participate in Douglass Day hosted by the Center for Black Digital Research at Penn State and the Library of Congress to celebrate Douglass Day on February 14th.

  • The Provost's Office and W&M Libraries offer a twice-yearly Writers’ Retreat in Swem Library. The purpose of the retreat is to give faculty uninterrupted time to work on a specific writing project of their choosing.

  • The Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) of William & Mary Libraries is pleased to announce that it will award travel grants to faculty members, graduate students, and/or independent researchers to support research use of its collections. Writers, creative and performing artists, filmmakers, and journalists are welcome to apply.

  • Rachel Priesman Marquez's internship with W&M Libraries’ Research and Instruction department is coming to a close. Here she shares her thoughts on the experience.

  • Revolutionary war General Marquis de Lafayette’s  honorary degree awarded to him in 1824 by William & Mary returned to France this week. Over 1,400 people viewed the historic item at the Special Collections Research Center.

  • Every year, Swem Library hosts its annual Two-Sentence Horror Story Competition to encourage students, faculty, and alumni to share their scariest short stories. The competition challenges community members to use their creativity to create these bone-chilling tales in the most concise way possible.

  • “Restoring Williamsburg’s Woods, One Plant at a Time” was written by Tracy Melton ’85 and published in the Alumni Magazine August 28th, 2024. Tracy is a current W&M Libraries Board member and environmentalist. He spent more than 2,000 hours in the woods removing a range of invasive species from Williamsburg. Here is a reshare of that story.
